The Gospel
The gospel is a historical event that was planned somewhere in eternity past. Within that historical event, Jesus, who is God incarnate and knew no sin, was murdered on the cross for our sin. While on the cross, Jesus bore the sins of humanity, paid our debt, and satisfied the wrath of God, which we deserved. Jesus physically died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, and literally rose from the dead three days later. Through this historical and supernatural act of love, God fulfilled His plan to redeem His children and provide a way for us to live in relationship with Him. By repentance of sin and faith in Christ as Lord and Savior, sin is forgiven, and you are saved. Your name is written in the Lamb's book of life, and you will spend eternity in the presence of Almighty God forever. The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the “only way” of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our effort.
